Repair, sell or give away your old arrows. Do not just leave them to gather dust!

If you recycle your old equipment then we are ALL winners!

Here are just a few options;

·        If the equipment is no longer of use to you, you could place an advert on the club’s ‘For Sale’ page. To do this talk to or send an email to the club’s webmaster.

·        Consider repairing it, seek advice from the club’s equipment officer.

·        Donate it to the club who will either use it as a club resource to support beginners programmes etc. or send it to support our overseas charity programme in Papa New Guinea.

·        Give the equipment to someone who could use it.

·        Please DONOT just leave it in your loft or a dark cupboard to become out dated and worthless.

Car Share
If you would like to share transport to practice sessions or competitions then please talk to our club secretary who will give you names of members that live in your area. Save money and the environment and have good company on your travels!

Here are a few actions that YOU can take to support this initiative and make a difference to the future!

·        Car share when travelling to practice and competitions.

·        Reduce trips to Wales Archery by either ordering by phone/internet or looking in the club monthly newsletter to see who will be going. Also let the editor know that you need to visit, as others may be able to travel with you or you could save them a trip!

·        Enter more local competitions (rather than travelling many miles to others) and try entering some of the ‘postal’ competitions.

·        Use the Club’s free resource box for small incidental items such as nocks, fletchings, strings etc. Find out what repair equipment you can borrow from the club and ask for advice on how to use it.

·        Recycle your old equipment – If you have outgrown it, never leave it in a cupboard. Sell it, loan it, give it!

·        Use target faces for as long as possible, use sticky centres where ever possible.

·        Do not place your target faces on the centre of the boss, position them around the boss to get even wear around the whole surface.

·        Buy equipment that can be adjusted to allow growth, higher poundage, interchange ability etc.

·        Encourage other archers to be more environmentally friendly and promote this approach whenever you can.

What is our Club doing to make archery a more sustainable sport?

We are promoting sustainability within the Club, by adopting it into the constitution and encouraging and supporting members to make a contribution now and into the future, such that it becomes a habit not just an initiative!

Representatives of the Club are also promoting the initiative across the County by raising it as a regular agenda item at the Gloucestershire Archery Society meetings as well as demonstrating the principals at competitions we organise at Club, County and Region levels!

We will be making an award at the Annual Club Awards Evening to the member who has made the biggest contribution to saving our planet!
