On this page we'll present a summary of the current Club Practice Session Arrangements.

New Venue for Tuesday evenings

Starting Tuesday 2nd March we will be meeting at Shurdington Social Centre (Centenary Hall) starting at 6:30pm.

Practice Dates Saturday 27th February

Balcarras Practice as usual 7 – 9pm

Sunday 28th February

Balcarras  Club Target Session – 9:45 for 10am start.  Finish by 1pm.

Choose from Portsmouth, Fita 18 or Vegas Rounds

Monday 1st March

No beginners courses at Birdlip as first Monday of the month.

Tuesday 2nd March

New venue – Shurdington Century Hall – 6:30 to 9pm

CLUB FIELD COURSE SHOOT at Bubbs Hill 9:45 for 10am start.

Extended course – fun scoring round.

GOOD FRIDAY 2nd APRIL @ Bubbs HillFun shoot, BBQ, Fireworks and the Club AGM (no more than 15mins) starting from 6pm. Everyone welcome, why not bring the whole family and enjoy the firework display and good food?

Feb Half Term Birdlip Coaching Sessions

A number of day time coaching sessions have been booked at Birdlip Village Hall for individual coaching.

Club Practice sessions
Please note that it will be sessions as normal at Balcarras and Birdlip during half term.
However their will be no session at Kingshill on Wednesday 17th February, the school is closed.

As it is half term there will not be any after-school club meetings at Kingshill, Sir William Romney, Archway, Balcarras or the Whiminster Centre.

Bubbs Hill Outdoor shooting
We finish our indoor sessions at the end of March, will confirm the start dates at Bubbs Hill, they will generally be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday evenings and Monday mornings. The field course will generally be used at prescribed sessions, either on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Kingshill Practice Session Wednesday January 13th - OFF

BalcarrasThis evening (Saturday 2nd Jan) at the normal time! And every subsequent Saturday.  Sunday 24th January from 9:30am will be a club Portsmouth and H2H round. Finished by 1pm.  ALL Club members welcome. Birdlip Tuesday 5th (and all the following Tuesdays), sessions for improvers (6:30 & 7:45). For ALL those attending that borrow equipment please let us know to ensure we have the right equipment. Mondays – 11th, 18th and 25th January Coach development evenings. Monday 8th February onwards will be for 2 beginner’s courses run by Ed, Karl and Simon. Just a couple of places left. KingshillWednesday 6th January, onwards starting at 7pm. Open to everyone. Please note that the sessions will now be in the gym and not the hall (located directly opposite). With exams etc we found that there were too many unavailable dates in the hall to make it viable. It will also be warmer in the Gym.

Practice sessions at Balcarras School - Christmas Holidays

24th  December - 2 o'clock

26th  December - 2 o'clock

27th December - 3 o'clock

28th, 29th and 30th December - 7 o'clock

31st December - 2 o'clock

1st January - 3 o'clock

2nd January - 7 o'clock as usual.

Practice at Balcarras School over Christmas

Dates/Times will be confirmed by 23rd December for 24th December to 1st January inclusive. Normal fees will apply. Please note that there may not be any heating so wrap up warm!! Equipment will be left up. Sessions will be an hour long so get there on time.

Summary of Winter Practice Days upto Christmas (Check below or latest Club Newsletters for specifics).

Mondays - Birdlip Village Hall - Coach Development Workshops (not 1st Mondays of month). Agenda issued for each session.

Tuesdays - Birdlip Village Hall - Improvers sessions, 1 to 1 coaching. Members need to arrange with coaches before attanding.

Wednesdays - Birdlip - Beginners courses (all full) & Kingshill School - open shooting from 7-9pm.

Fridays - Birdlip Village Hall - Beginners Courses (all full).

Saturdays - Mornings at Bubbs Hill for individual coaching & Balcarras School - open shooting from 7-9pm.

Sundays - Adhoc bookings (1/2 and whole day) for club competitions at Balcarras School & Field shoots at Deer Park.

Balcarras School Sports Centre
Saturdays from 3rd October – 27th March   Shooting starts 7pm til 9pm. Hall open from 6:45, please try to get there in time to help put up netting, bosses etc. – Open to all members.We have also booked a number of Sundays and will announce these in the next newsletter.

Kingshill School Sports Centre – Cirencester
The following Wednesday evenings from 6:45 til 9:00pm have been booked for open practice.Wednesdays from --- 30th September til October 21st, 4th & 11th November & 9th & 16th December.

Birdlip Village Hall
Monday 12th October til Monday 29th March. Please note that we DO NOT meet on the first Monday of each month. These dates are for coach development sessions (only coaches and archery leaders are invited unless otherwise stated). Some of these dates will also be open sessions for equipment maintenance workshops, again dates will be announced as soon as possible.Tuesday 29th September til Tuesday 23rd March.  These sessions are ONLY for Improvers – Defined as those shooting for less than 12 months. However IF a coach is working with a club member on specific areas for development, then they may also attend. 2 sessions 6:30 – 7:30 and 7:45 – 8:45.Wednesdays and Friday evenings have been booked by Xperience Archery to run Beginners Programmes. (all bows, arrows etc are provided by Xperience Archery). These are not open sessions.

Bubbs Hill

Members that want to continue to shoot at Bubbs Hill on Monday to Thursday evenings until mid October are welcome to do so, although the light is not good from about 7:30 onwards. Some of the bosses will be left out so anyone wanting to shoot on a Monday morning can continue to do so until the end of October. After the Halloween Shoot the bosses will then be stored in the metal shelter for the winter and sheep will use the field!
