A great family evening, Julie won the Snowman Drive, Katherine the Disney Quiz and Ian and Nick the Sports Quiz.

The 2009 Awards go to the following members 

Best Senior Gent – Beginner 

Andrew Fisher joined the club following completion of one of the club’s beginners courses at Birdlip during the Spring, he has already achieved 3rd Class Archer status, shooting Nationals.

Best Senior Lady – Beginner
Julie Parsons again joined us following completion of one of the club’s beginners courses at Birdlip during the Spring and has shown a significant improvement.

Best Junior Gent – Beginner 
Guy Aitkin
joined us as a beginner on one of the summer beginners courses at Bubbs Hill. Regularly attends the Kingshill After-School Club where his scores and technique have improved each week.

Best Junior Lady – Beginner
Katherine Towers joined us from the summer term after-school club we ran at Archway School, she attends practice sessions at Birdlip where she is demonstrating lots of potential.

Best Junior Improver
Arron Pearce has had an outstanding season and is now ranked 2nd in Great Britain! During 2009 he has broken 15 County Records and 1 National Record. He also won the Joyce Harding Trophy for County Best Improver! Well done Arron.

Best Senior Improver
Joint winners of Marnie & Brian Shaw. Marnie improved her outdoor classification to 2nd Class, with Brian achieving 3rd. Brian struck back with an excellent indoor score so it was difficult to separate them!

Best Senior Recurve
Lawrence Gregory had a great outdoor season, winning the County Championships, representing the county team, achieving his six gold end and picking up numerous medals. Well done.

Best Senior Compound
Steph Crang has not shot as often this season due to business commitments, however when she has shot she has achieved GMB status on each occasion, reducing her handicap raring to just 11. Finished 3rd at the Cleve Premier Event and broken 3 County and Regional Records including the 70m round.

Best Junior Compound
Callum Fraser has won medals at both the Indoor and Outdoor British Championships as well as breaking 3 County Records, and winning the County and Regional Titles.

Best Junior Recurve
Tom Howse capped an excellent season by finishing 2nd in the recent British Junior Indoor Championships in a strong field of 30 top archers, he recorded 533 on a Portsmouth. He is a member of the County Junior Development Squad.

This award was announced on the evening, it is the clubman of the year award which is selected by Lynn and Rosie Benfield.
