will be advertising an adult training residential weekend at Eaton Manor, where indoor shooting at 70m, coaching etc will
be all part of the experience!
6 week Improver Coaching
Programmes Following the success of the 4 week programmes last year at Birdlip, Andy and Janet will be running
some more programmes this year on Tuesday evenings. For those not familiar with the format, a maximum of 4 archers per 1 hour
session, a full analysis of their strengths and areas for development, agreement on an action plan and
weekly supported practice sessions. Open to all members who want to improve their technique. Please let Andy or any of the
coaches know if you would like to take part.
Steph Gill in her role as CCO
is currently arranging a number of workshops, all to be delivered by external coaches and experts. All the workshops have
been defined, just awaiting confirmation of dates!

Running a compound bow
set up workshop at Shurdington during practice sessions using the 5 new Hoyt Compound bows we have recieved through external
funding. Also using our bow press an 'appreciation of potential uses' workshop as well as a workshop on arrow cutting,
practical and impact on arrow tuning etc.
Long Term Archer Development
As of July
2011 we have applied to Sports Coach UK to host an Introduction to LTAD and hopefully a follow up programme. Some of our members
are already developing a Deer Park LTAD model. This will suppliment it.
Mental Health in Sport
Some
of our members are attending a workshop hosted by the Gloucestershire FA towards the end of July.
June - Barebow and Longbow Workshop
We
hosted a County workshop run by Andrew and Jane Rees, attended by archers and coaches. An excellent morning and we all learnt
a lot.
June - Junior Squad Development Day 2 of 8
Another good session run by Kath
Fitzpatrick, some individual workshops on the Saturday and a full squad programme on the Sunday. Well supported by Kath's
husband Mick and Step and Dan.
Specific Workshops
We are running 2 workshops
to train selected members to use the Club Engraving Machine and the Club Bow Press (Training by Wales archery).
Running Sports Voucher
The committee
are working to select a Running Sports Workshop which will be for up to 20 people to attend the selected workshop free of
charge. We will probably invite other clubs in the county to nominate some members to attend.
Compound Bow Workshop - 27th April 2011
We
are hosting a workshop to be run by Wales Archery at Birdlip Villlage Hall starting at 7pm. Whilst all Gloucestershire Coaches
and members of the 8 day Junior Coaching programme have been invited. Parents and interested Archers are welcome to attend,
however they should email sjcrang@aol.com to check for spare places.
Mini Workshops - March 2011The last 2 sessions on ‘Pressure buttons’ and ‘D-Loops’
went well. Over the next couple of weeks we hope to cover ‘ Strings’ and ‘fletching selection and fitting’.
17th April – Barebow and Field
Course Training Day Maggie Squires , GB Field Team Member
, Coach and past GB Junior Target team Manager has agreed to spend a day running 2 sessions, one targeted at Coaches and one
at archers. The workshops will focus on field skills, barebow shooting, string walking, cheat systems
for estimating distance, compound shooting etc. We are
also looking to arrange a session with Richard Powell, British Champion and record holder, who has agreed to visit to work
with our longbow archers. Watch this space.
County Junior Development Squad Day We had an excellent day last Sunday with 22 of the counties best juniors, team
building, being coached, attending equipment sessions and competing. Of the 22, 13 were from Deer Park, a special well done to Katherine Frusher and James Lawton who attended for
the first time and did very well. Also well done to Lucy who broke the U12, 14, 16 and 18 County records for a Bray
1 round. James Howse and Arron Pearce also broke the county record for the Bray 1 Round.
Equipment Maintenance Workshop – Monday 29th
November Birdlip 7pm
Basic equipment & Maintenance workshop
With
immediate effect we will give members the opportunity to attend the above workshops in the room adjacent to the shooting area
at Shurdington on Wednesday evenings at the same time as practice sessions.
Safety Officer Report Would all members (particularly longbows) please ensure they
load their arrows with the bow facing towards the targets, it is poor practice to load them pointing towards a fellow archer
on the line. We will be highlighting this at practice sessions.Karl is currently updating our 1st Aid Kit and also making up a second one.If you have a 1st aid qualification that we do
not know about then please us know.
Basic Bow Set Up Workshops Following the success of the last one, 2 further dates have
been fixed. Wednesday 14th July, 7pm at Deer Park will be another recurve bow session. Wednesday 28th
July at Birdlip Village Hall will be a compound workshop.

Fitness and Condition Workshops - Sunday 21st May
As part of the County Junior Development Squad day that we are organising we are fortunate enough to have Bev Detouf
running a workshop for juniors and parents in the morning and for coaches in the afternoon.
All members either
involved with the Junior Squad or are coaches etc are welcome to attend.
Longbow Making Courses
During March no
less than 8 of our members will be doung weekend longbow making courses. We look forward to seeing the final product and them
being used of the field course!

standard 6 week Beginners Courses run inhouse, the 8 week School Beginners courses run at school venues then during this period
we have run courses for WELL OVER 200 PEOPLE, with over 2/3 of those being juniors!
