Archery in Schools
Since 2008 members of Deer Park Archers have worked with Active Gloucestershire,
the County's Sports Partnership running 8 week Beginners Courses funded by Sport Unlimited. Each School Term the number
of after-school clubs increases, as does the waiting list of schools and juniors that want to be involved!
Coaching All the supporting coaches are GNAS qualified
with all the necessary Child Protection Certificates, Insurance, first aid certificates etc and they employ the latest
techniques to support the development of the participants.
Equipment We are fortunate to
be able to use excellent equipment including the latest recurve and Genesis bows.
Exit Routes Many
of the archers either join local clubs or increasingly remain with their after-school clubs which we are helping to set up
and support.
School Activity Days
We are also fortunate
to be supporting a number of schools for all-day sporting experiences for a fortnight in June/July.
We also are
supporting a number of 'Playground to Podium' programs run by Active Gloucestershire which draw on those with disabilities
from a range of schools.

Spring Term 2010
6 Schools are currently
running Beginners Courses and as part of the programme we will hold an Inter-School Competition during March. As well as individual
winners from each school (receiving certificates) there will be 3 overall winners each receiving medals and also a winning
after-school team.
The schools involved this term will be Archway (2 teams), Whitminster (1 team), Balcarras (2
teams), Sir William Romney (2 teams), Kingshill (2 teams) and Bourneside School.
Where a school has 2 entries that
is an indication that they now have an after-school club which has members (improvers) that have continued from previous terms/courses.
